Big B: I haven't bought Rs 2.7-lakh

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has written to the Income Tax department, verifying that he had not bought sunglasses worth Rs 2.7 lakh and gifted it to the director of his soon-to-be released film, Zamaanat, after a taxman called him to seek clarification.

While the I-T department on Friday denied that it had served any notice to Bachchan asking him to explain the purchase of the glasses, sources close to the star told TOI that the clarification was sought on the basis of a tabloid report.
