That ice melting is not in my Wild Turkey and Coke it is
melting in the Arctic. Well, it also melted enough in 1905 for a boat with a
seven-man crew to sail through it. And there were many other voyages documented
in the 1940s. What we are all hearing is that the Arctic ice has melted the
most since the 1970s ignoring this:

Built for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Force to serve
as a supply ship for isolated, far-flung Arctic RCMP detachments, St. Roch was
also designed to serve when frozen in for the winter, as a floating detachment,
with its constables mounting dog sled patrols from the ship. Between 1929 and
1939 St. Roch made three voyages to the Arctic. Between 1940 and 1942
St. Roch navigated the Northwest Passage, arriving in Halifax harbor on
October 11, 1942
. St. Roch was the second ship to make the passage,
and the first to travel the passage from west to east. In 1944, St. Roch
returned to Vancouver via the more northerly route of the Northwest Passage,
making her run in 86 days.
The epic voyages of St. Roch demonstrated
Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic during the difficult wartime years, and
extended Canadian control over its vast northern territories. [emphasis added

Thank you NewsBusters
for that.

And thanks NewsBusters
for this as well:

In fact, though the "civilian noninstitutional
population" of persons sixteen to nineteen-years-old reached 17 million
for the first time in history last month, only 5.665 million of these teens
were employed, the fewest for any August since 1965 when the population of such
young adults was only 13 million.

A major part of the unemployment picture can be explained by
the fact that children just don’t work or can’t due to cumbersome regulations.

In other news, the press is being effective in its onslaught
against our War on Terror. According to a Washington
Post poll
53% already distrust a man whose last name they probably can’t
pronounce or spell. Bravo MSM, bravo.

Oh, and the bickering Generals you may have heard about is
significantly overblown if you believe this from The
Corner
:

The actual disagreement between Casey and the other chiefs
on the one hand and Petraeus and Odierno on the other is less obvious than
drama-seeking news stories have made out. After the New York Times reported
that Pace would advise the president to draw down tens of thousands of U.S.
forces in Iraq next year, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs issued a public
statement denying the claim. And a sensationalist article in the Wall Street
Journal attempting to pit Casey against Petraeus nevertheless claimed that
Casey wanted to pull six brigades out of Iraq by the end of 2008 -- in other
words, to return to pre-surge levels. That is what both Petraeus and Odierno
have been suggesting that they would like to do as well, if it is possible.

MoveOn.org
calls Petraeus a traitor
.

Oh, and all those peer-reviewed climate change UN reports we
hear about. They’re not so
peer-reviewed after all
. Only five (that’s 5 for those of you with a public
education) read the whole thing. I guess it’s so much of a consensus view there
need be no consensus maker anymore.

Michael Moore has done his own polling, probably on that
Slacker Tour of America’s college campuses (side note: the very fact that there
are enough slackers in college is proof enough our education system is a
failure) and has found out that “The potential for a (Democratic) landslide is
enormous. People do not want to vote for the Republicans.” For all of you
Republicans who think we need to lose to cleanse ourselves of all the bad
things that have infiltrated our party just imagine the Moore puppet, pick a
democrat candidate, any candidate, in charge of our country.

We also find the Crooks
and Liars people hard at work grasping at more straws
.

TOWNSEND: Chris, these are all the sorts of things that the
intelligence community will do a technical analysis to evaluate. Obviously,
we’re still going through that now. But looking for…looking at issues related
to his health, his whereabouts, and frankly, the content of the tape to make
sure that this is not a trigger for an attack, these are all things the
intelligence community is completely devoted to as we speak.

WALLACE: And do you have any answers?

TOWNSEND: No.
We will obviously “action” any information that we find from that, but
as you can understand, the particulars of the technical analysis are not
something we’re going to reveal.

Townsend, Homeland Security
Advisor
, was just answering how anyone with Top Security information would
answer. I guess she should have said we think Osama is actually a Panamanian
call girl with a wooden leg and a lisp. Grasping at straws in deed.

APEC and OPEC both made announcements:

APEC calls
for climate change progress
and were
hopeful for progress at Doha
.

OPEC says that oil
supplies are all right with them
.
