Bill Murray Arrested
Actor Bill Murray could face a drink driving charge in after he refused a breathalyser test in Sweden– citing US law.
Murray was pulled over by police after he was spotted driving a golf cart through downtown Stockholm on Sunday.
Detective-Inspector Christer Holmlund claims that the Groundhog Day star smelled of alcohol when police officers pulled him over.
"He refused to blow in the (breathalyser) instrument, citing American legislation," Holmlund told The Associated Press. "So we applied the old method - a blood test. It will take 14 days before the results are in."
The Detective also claims that Murray signed a document admitting that he was driving under the influence, and granted that a police officer plead guilty on his behalf if the case goes to court.
"Then he was let go. My guess is he went back to America,"
He added: "There were no obvious signs, like when someone is really tipsy,"
“It was a golf cart. How it ended up in this predicament I don't know,"
"I have done this since '68 and I've never experienced anything like this."
If the tests conclude that Murray was driving under the influence he could face heavy fines and possible imprisonment.

Okay, I'm confused, is driving a golf cart without being tipsy a crime in Sweden?

arwenn, you've convinced me you've done the work - it's authentic. I also think that you've been fair and thorough. I didn't get the sense that you were hiding your biases, or passing off other's work as your own. Or worse -- getting paid by those you cover -- so it's transparent and independent. I also think you deserve praise for being an eyewitness, and for your investigative efforts. Good stuff.

The golf cart? Easily explained. Filming began for Caddy Shack 3! Good stuff, Arwenn!

driving anything under the influence is a bad idea...no?

Even if he was incapacitated, and the cop said he wasn't, a recklessly-driven golf cart is more of an irritation than a danger, unless, of course, Bill was playing "chicken" with the automobiles (and he wasn't).
It sounds like he borrowed one of his hotel's golf carts to get to a nightclub and back. Goofy? Yes. A threat to society? Only in one of Bill Murray's comedies.
