BET'S 'HOT GHETTO MESS' BECOMES 'WE GOT TO DO BETTER'

If one has ever doubted the power of the blogger, all one has to do is take a look at Ms. Gina McCauley over at What About Our Daughters. She almost single-handily led a revolt on the assault on the image of African Americans and other Blacks by BET.

In
the aftermath of Don Imus and Michael Richards, I am amazed that BET
thought they could have actually gotten away with this. Black Women are
tired of serving as image doormats and then once we speak up and speak
out, be labeled as angry. We've been given no choice but to fight for
our dignity and the dignity of our daughters.

And
just because Ms. Donaldson wanted to sell out our images for the
proverbial 40 pieces of silver, doesn't mean we had to sit idly by and
be subjected to the perpetual image gang rape of us and our people.

If
anyone should be labeled as angry, it should be the greedy profiteers
who now have their "draws" all up in a bunch because they see the
writing on the wall that says there will soon - and very soon - come a
day when they will no long be able to seduce the naive and unsuspecting
mind with their brand of foolishness for their own personal financial
gain.

what is BET?

where is the reference to Viacom in the story that is alluded to in the headline?

This story, as it is presented here, needs more work. I should not have to click through anywhere to discover facts etc

no BET here - and with NP having an international audience this sort of thing should be explained

Nobody wins with the current objectification-based videos: mainstream hip-hop, by sticking to the same tropes, pushes itself towards irrelevancy whilst the medium itself still has so much to give.
