Simon Cowell clearly needs to check his rudeness at the door.

Chris Richardson, an American Idol finalist who happens to be a Virginia native sent his heartfelt condolences to the victims of the Virginia Tech shootings after his performance yesterday. Meanwhile, Cowell was caught rolling his eyes at the comments while he tapped his hands on the table. Once backstage, sources say Chris Richardson was left stunned, calling Simon's reaction "sad and hurtful."

Although Cowell did offer support for the families at the end of the broadcast, fans sent in complaints and FOX had to field major complaints from viewers of the wildly popular show. Details are developing, but I'm sure FOX's and Cowell's publicists will spin this incident in his favour.
