Bloggers Guilty of Kickbacks
After spending some time with colleagues of mine that work in the ad business in NY, it has come to my attention that many bloggers, including 'A Listers' are taking kickbacks to pimp content on their sites. Apparently, quietly behind closed doors everyone from PR firms to product companies are doing deals with everything from as small as a nice dinner, to free event tickets to actual cash. This has been going on for sometime, however, it has been an unspoken truth. I was shocked to hear just how often it is going on.
Looks like the blogging business is no different than traditional media.
Word is that there may be investigations into fraud with some of those that are repeat offenders. I am trying to find out more in terms of names and actualy amounts...stay posted.

Do you have any substantial accusations here? Any evidence? Details?

Does anyone have any verification of this? I had heard rumours before on this...but wasn't sure if they were true.

How is this fraud? I think it's more an issue of tactfulness, isn't it?

Seems to be a big difference between what is marketing shwag and the give and take from other marketers vs. taking money on the sly. In mind....I hope it isn't true.
