I recently came across an article outlining a study on the beneficial effects of smoking vapourized cannabis over the traditional “puff puff pass” method.  By measuring carbon monoxide (a tracer of combusted carbon) and THC (the medicinal chemical in cannabis) in blood, the report claims that vapourized cannabis provides the same amount of THC as smoking it, without added carbon monoxide.

Well, this is great for medicinal users, but what about your average pot head?

After reading this, I was immediately reminded of the various smokeless aids for tobacco smokers.  Many of my smoking friends, upon being asked about using nicotine inhalers, reacted negatively towards them, often citing aspects of their daily routine as the primary reason for smoking.

Might this be true for avid marijuana users?  Is the routine of rolling and smoking a joint, or packing a pipe/bong a large part of pot-culture or simply a means to an end?  What is the payoff: getting high, thinking about getting high, or the comradery among fellow smokers?

I am reminded of the near-canonized photo of Bob Marley smoking a joint, and wonder if pot were to be legalized, would it be only sold as a smokeless joint?

What do you think?
