Bollywood braces for "Abhiash" wedding

Bollywood's version of our very own Brangelina (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are kicking off a week of wedding celebrations. The pre-marriage party known as the sangeet will begin with a huge party featuring songs, dances, and skits. Then the celebrations move to Rai's home to do a mendhi or temporary henna tattoo ceremony. Friday's wedding will be a low-key Hindu ceremony with only a few close friends in attendance. Surely, this is the biggest event of the year for Bollywood fans and the Indian media and everyone is going crazy to get the first photos of the event. To protect their privacy, the couple has hired over 500 police officers to guard the home where the wedding is taking place.

Rai and Bachchan have worked together on at least five films, and both have been romantically lined in the past to other Bollywood stars. Rai, who has acted in over 40 films, was crowned Miss World in 1994. Bachchan too has acted in about 40 films.
