Brent Council Reaches for the Self Destruct Button
Monday 12th March 2007, Wembley, London UK
Mass Union Lead Protests lead the charge as the workers and families and supporters of Carlyon Print a supported workshop for disabled people went head to head with council leaders at Brent Town Hall, they protested with banners and made their voices heard, causing general embassament to the council at large.
Supporters came from far and wide to rally to Carlyon's cause, as other community and social services faced the council's axe, they stood together as one voice in unity.
Upon entering the council chambers, it was clear the issues of closure had brought the community together with a petition of 3000 strong behind them, however what followed was kangaroo court like farce of epic and saddening proportions, it was clear from the start that council officials who appeared on Carlyon's side had been gotten too, one member of the table stated this issue "Made him sick to core" and refused to vote. Not surprising when a factory that runs Printing Machines gets compared with a Day Care Centre.
Fact's and figures that were presented were twisted to the council members own ends. Union members and Opposed councilers voiced the anger only for the table to try to gag them.
It appeared a farce to begin with, however the fact a vote/decision to close Carlyon appeared in a blink of a eye and it was based on a report that had no basis in reality begs the question do we really live in a free and just society? The story is not over...

Nice work dataloss.
You have been covering this issue very well and I have some suggestions for you that will make your item more effective:
1. While this story has bona fide news content, you should tag it "opinion" because you so cleary express a point of view. In no way does this detract from your good work, or indicate it is less trustworthy. In fact by doing so you show great respect with the reader, and earn it in return.
2. Consider providing a"briefing" note at the beginning, reminding readers of your previous stories on the same subject (through links) and summarizing the events and issues to date.
3. Clearly indicate what has changed since you last wrote about this subject. By highlighting what has changed, you have boldly indentified what is new in your news.
These are just suggestions - your work is greatly appreciated at NowPublic, and by marking it Good Stuff it is promoted to greater visibility.
