The Bridge: Documentary about people who have committed suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Physical beauty, without a spiritual component, has a kind of cruelty to it. It represents a promise that can't be delivered, a challenge that can't be met, and a standard by which to measure one's own ugliness, failure or disappointment. The Golden Gate Bridge, a rare man-made structure that actually makes the natural surroundings yet more beautiful, is an imposing sight and a powerful symbol. It's San Francisco. It's California, and the West. And for Bay Area residents who become disenchanted with their lives, it's a place to commit suicide.
