All across Britain today people were perplexed as the normally grey skies turned an unusual shade of blue. Many people reported seeing a "giant ball of fire" or a glowing orb appear in the unusual sky.

Although initially dismissed as crank calls, scientists now confirm
that this strange phenomenon is known as "The Sun". The Sun newspaper
denied that it  had anything to do with them calling it thus.

Panic was felt after people who'd been exposed to this 'sun' light for several hours reported a redness of the skin followed by an itching / burning sensation in affected areas. This was followed later by peeling of the outer layer of the skin. Some people likened it to the affects of exposure to radiation.

Scientists however have been quick to reassure people that there is no cause for alarm. That there were no health risks posed by moderate amounts of 'sun' light provided proper precautions were taken. The Minister for Health was quick to stress that individuals exposed to large amounts of this 'sun' light may develop symptoms of something called sun-burn. These included the aforementioned symptoms  and the possibly of the person's skin turning brown several days later in a process known as sun tanning.

This 'Sun' burn can be prevented by the application of a substance being called sun-cream to the skin. Sun cream is available at all local pharmacists. It was also recommended that one should limit one's exposure to this 'solar' radiation by wearing light clothing and/or a hat.

An anomyous spokesman for the BNP however condemned this announcement, implying that this 'sun-tanning', is in fact a Terrorist plot to produce ethnic confusion among the normally fish-belly white members of the public. An unnamed Government offical described this as "Complete and Utter Tosh!"

No comment has been forthcoming so far from the National Weather bureau as to when normal conditions will return.  But experts are confidently saying that our normal grey and rainy weather will return soon, so there is no cause for alarm.
