A few weeks ago, NowPublic reported on a tragic fire in New York borough the Bronx in which nine people were killed. Today, the father and husband of some of the victims buried his family in Mali. He plans to return to the United States in a few months and hopes to bring three sons, who currently live in Mali, back to the U.S. with him.

Surrounded by hundreds of mourners, Mamadou Soumare – the father who lost his family in the tragic Highbridge fire earlier this month – buried his wife and four children in Mali Sunday.

A prayer service followed as religious leaders shared their words of inspiration.

Soumare arrived in Mali's capital of Bamako Saturday to bury the bodies of his wife, seven-year-old daughter, four-year-old son and seven-month-old twin girls.
