Patrick Stubing (30) and his loving wife/sister Susan have fathered four children, have had three taken into foster care, and were the focus of several court battles and convictions under German incest law; several European countries have already removed this law from their books. This couple is adamant that if the legal system hadn't taken away the first child, they may not have had more; their intention has only ever been to live together and share 'a normal relationship', as Spanish couple/siblings Maria Rosa and Daniel Moya were allowed to do.
The story hinges on the fact that the couple only met each other in 2000, as Mr. Patrick Stubing was adopted into another family at an early age, and only then reunited with his mother. He met his sister for the first time and they quickly fell in love. The sister/wife has never served jail time for her convictions, as she is still an adolescent.
Two of the four children do have disabilities (proving the researched ratio of 50% of children born to siblings having some sort of disability or malformation) but they are at this point undisclosed. (Mr. Stubing does say that one child has epilepsy, but 'everything else is fine'). The couple is looking forward to their battle to change the law and get these kids back.
In a related article, Ulrike Dierkes is the outspoken founder of an organization supporting children born as a result of incestuous sex, and supports tightening this law to cover even the unlikely cases of artificial insemination that have come before German courts. Ms. Dierkes is herself the child of a man who had sex with his daughter. "I'm not interested in morality" she says... while campaigning against the rearing of children from these relationships, she supports consensual sex of any kind between any two people.
There is of course a film and book deal pending.

This became a cultural norm because even ancient people recognized what happened scientifically when siblings interbred - disaster. 50% developmental problems for the offspring takes it out of the realm of romantic freedom and into the realm of willful child endangerment.

Well think about a brother that REALLY loves his Sister and if she has her Tubes tied so that NO kids are going to be produced. What is to stop to adults from Making Love and pleasing each other to the best of their ABILITIES?
My sister is my best friend, my soul-mate, my girlfriend, my LOVER, and I'd Marry her in a HEART-BEAT....

Rather funny, when people think sex (and its a popular topic), the LAST thing that comes to mind is reproduction. But when people think incest, the first argument you get is the "child will have 5 fingers!"
Way to have double standards.
Personally I wouldn't screw my sister, but hey, thats me, and thats them. As long as they pay their taxes, don't murder anyone, they are not a threat to anything except some moralists overwraught holier-than-thou sense of 12th century decency.
