Bulldogs and Yorkies compete in Surf Dog Competition

Dressed in flowered board shorts, Murphy eyed the waves – one-to two-footers breaking evenly on a sunny morning.

Pogey, a poodle-bichon frise mix, dried himself off after participating in yesterday's Surf Dog Small Wave Competition at Imperial Beach. He came in third.

He scoped out the competition. Twenty-nine surfers in all, checking out the waves and each other, barking and digging, while Beach Boys tunes blared over a loudspeaker.
