Firefighters believed that a firework may have been to blame for a blaze which destroyed a bungalow in Hertfordshire this Guy Fawkes Night on Sunday 5th November 2006. Six fire crews from Hertfordshire and Essex joined forces to tackle the blaze, which is believed to have started when a firework ignited a bush next to the building, before setting light to the bungalow.

The first fire crew to arrive at the scene in Vallance Drive, on the Rosedale Estate in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, was on scene within minutes of the 999 call.

It was initially understood that people could have been trapped inside the building. Additional firefighters were requested, and were mobilized from Hoddesdon and Waltham Abbey.

As the blaze grew in its intensity, further resources were requested, and more firefighters were sent from Ware, Potters Bar, Hertford, Bishops Stortford, and throughout the Hertfordshire County.

A specialist Ariel ladder Platform (ALP) was also requested, and attended from Stevenage.

Hundreds of residents on the estate gathered to witness the blaze, and police cordoned off large areas around the blaze.
