Bush library an embarrassment?

Bush and sole finalist in the bidding for the location of the George W.
Bush Presidential Library – worry that the new library could damage the
university’s reputation, and some are demanding a referendum. Apparently they are worried about academic freedom in
the midst of a new big-money institute attached to the library
conducting political research there some day. And then there is that
group of Methodist ministers who have mounted an online petition drive
in an attempt to convince SMU to drop its plans for the presidential
“as United Methodists, we believe that the linking of his presidency with a university bearing the Methodist name is utterly inappropriate.’’
