- August 7, 2007. Ongoing strike negotiations were resumed today. Due to a media blackout by both sides, one can only presume that the C.U.P.E. would be willing to accept a 5 year contract which both sides would concede to. The same as all other districts in the area have done. So the only thing holding up the end of strike would be money and the terms of the contract. A contract of this length would take us past the 2010 winter olympics hosted by Vancouver and past the upcoming civil elections. One would be in favour of such a contract where they would have 5 years of uninterrupted reading. 5 years of garbage pick-up and disposal plus 5 years of as many rounds of golf as one can handle. So the only garbage one would have to be concerned about is what is coming out of CITY HALL. (30)
