The Recording Academy, parent organization of the Grammy awards, has announced the addition of a "Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album" category, beginning with the 2007 Grammys to be presented in February 2008.

"We deserve it. Both styles deserve it," zydeco musician Terrance Simien of Lafayette said after the news broke. "This was some of the first music made in the United States, and we are as good as any style of music. We are moving people all around the world to get up and dance and have a good time. That's what we're about."
