In what is sure to bring a sigh of relief from parents and teachers alike, is sure to bring a frown to the notorious saggy pants wearers of this Southern town.
DELCAMBRE, La. - Sag your britches somewhere else, this Cajun-country town has decided.

Mayor Carol Broussard said he would sign an ordinance the town council approved this week setting penalties of up to six months in jail and a $500 fine for being caught in pants that show undergarments or certain parts of the body.

Broussard said he has nothing against saggy pants but thinks people who wear them should use discretion. "It's gotten way out of hand out here," he said.

Indeed, something has gotten out of hand - perhaps it's needless bans which only encourage youngsters to disregard the law and scoff at silly grown ups.

Ryan, this reminds me of New Jersey's War on Sleevelessness. Surey such a trend shouldn't need specific legislation, as having to hike one's trousers up every ten seconds is punishment enough... a fashion albatross, as it were.

Somethings should not require a politician to handle, brush your teeth, eat your vegtables, don't wear your pants so low everyone can see your underwear or worse!  While I agree that the saggy pants are not an attractive fashion trend they are just that....a fashion trend. If we blink it won't last long, much like leg warmers!  Lets just hope that the trend isn't revisited 20-25 years from now!
