Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (2007/9/9) — The University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds mounted a second half comeback scoring two unanswered goals to draw the University of Calgary Dinos 2-2 in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) men's varsity soccer.

Once trailed 2-0 at the half, UBC equalized in the 65th minute on sophomore forward Charles Valliere's left-footed strike just inside the 18-yard box set up by rookie substitute defender Matt Allard.

Eight minutes earlier, Thunderbirds' rookie midfielder Jorge Angel-Mira put a right-footed strike from 20-yards out past Calgary keeper JP Crescenzi into the bottom corner of the goal.

Dinos' 3rd-year forward Ryan Holbrook contributed on both of Calgary's first half goals. In the 28th minute, Holbrook headed on a ball to 2nd-year midfielder Brian Delaney inside the 18-yard box to set up the opening goal of the match.

Holbrook found the net himself on a header from a throw-in in the 36th minute to put the Dinos up a pair of goals going into halftime.

Two Calgary Dinos were injured in the second half in hard collisions with UBC players. Delaney suffered facial lacerations when he clashed head-to-head with Thunderbirds' rookie midfielder Scott Barling.

In the 85th minute, the referee ejected UBC's 3rd-year defender Graham Smith with a red card when his sliding tackle inadvertently struck Dinos' rookie forward Fernando Di Capua in the head.

UBC and Calgary are tied in the Canada West conference standings each with a win and a loss to begin the 2007 season. University of Victoria and Trinity Western University are ahead each with a 2-0 record.

The Thunderbirds next host the University College of the Fraser Valley (UCFV) Cascades on Saturday (Sep. 15) while the Dinos return to Calgary for their home-opener on the same day taking on the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
