I had not seen anything about this story before today, as New York City will host teams from some 80 cities in the national canstruction drive. The cans used in the exhibit will be given to New York charities after the show. This is the 14th year the artistically feuled food drive has happened, and the images I have seen are really rad!

All canned food used in building the structures, as well as the donations from the public, will be distributed to emergency food programs served by City Harvest, who along with the Society of Design Administration, American Institute of Architects and New York Design Center sponsor the exhibit. New York City is one of 80 cities sponsoring Canstruction competitions in future months. More than 600 works of art will be createdâthatâs more than 2,000,000 million pounds of canned food to local food banks.
