Canadians celebrate 139th Canada Day

OTTAWA (AFP) - Canadians rang in their country's 139th Canada Day with an array of festivals and with one major newspaper editorial trumpeting the joys of being Canadian at such "marvelous times for a lucky country."

Hundreds of festivals, concerts and fireworks displays took off around the country as the nation marked the day when the area's provinces united to form a federation called Canada.
