The pipeline runs all the way from Edmonton to the refineries on the Burrard Inlet and on down to the US. The 2 foot pipe delivers 250,000 barrels per day, and if it was still flowing for 30 minutes while burst, several thousand barrels of oil would have been lost.
Windblown oil droplets were visible up to 1.5 blocks downwind, and the front yards of the closest houses were very very sticky.
