MERIDEN, Conn. -- A cat in Connecticut has adopted a Rottweiler.

And the puppy gets along fine with the other kittens nursing at the cat named Satin.

The 6-day-old puppy, called Charlie, was rejected by his mother. She'd given birth to two puppies, but one died. And as often happens with a stillborn in a litter, the mother refuses to accept the other.

So a short-haired mother cat made room.

Workers at the Meriden Humane Society gave the cross-breeding family a try, and it's working. It won't last much longer, though. Volunteers are looking for other puppies for Charlie to play with, because he needs to learn social skills from other dogs.

And he's probably going to be 100 pounds when he's grown.
