Caught on Camera: $12,000 Distraction Robbery - Video

FT. LAUDERDALE Fort Lauderdale police are asking for the public’s help in finding distraction thieves who were caught on camera stealing from a convenience store in a heist that netted the thieves up to $12,000 dollars.

The theft took place in October at the convenience store, located inside an Exxon gas station at 1100 North Federal Highway in the Gateway area.

The video shows three men walking into the convenience store. Two of the suspect begin talking to the clerk and simply hanging out at the counter. Police say they were deliberately keeping the clerk busy, engaging him in conversation, asking him questions and asking for directions.
