As I write I am watching the first episode in the latest Killinaskully series, with Pat Shortt, about to become world famous with his lead role in the movie Garage, just released. Is this a spoof on the Save Tara...

About celticways

I am a tour operator, guide, treacher, writer and film maker focused on keeping alive traditions, wisdoms and crafts of Ireland so they do not become extinct through the the current transition towards a modern prosperous country. With our tours we find it is popular to share these traditions through the spirit, heritage and mythology of the goddess Bhride, known to many as Brighid, Brigid or Brigit.

An important part of this work is encouraging respect, preservation and restoration of heritage buildings and sacred sites. This has been an interest of mine since I was a very young child with a passion for an ancient megalithic passage cairn near my childhood home. Since then my career has largely focused on learning crafts of tradition such as being a stone mason, herbalism, folk drama, and what some call today "celtic shamanism".

As a tour operator and guide my priority is mainly to provide travellers with a true vacation where they can totally leave behind their world for a week or two. Through an itinerary of relaxation, close contact to nature and introduction to ancient simple nature based traditions we trust that our travellers return to their worlds with a feeling of personal soul restoration. In short, we even try to restore the old tradition of vacations and holidays of simply "getting away from it all" and spending some time amongst nature and relaxing in spa waters and being a bit pampered.

Supporting my passion for tradition is a passion for harps, their music and the people that play them, even though I am not a harper. Not only do I find harp music moving, especially when harps accompany songs, but they also seem to make a strong statement about tradition and our connection to nature and its greater spirit. The harp, to me, seems to be our gift that is a veil to which we can travel between the worlds of nature on earth and nature in spirit.

My story and guide book, "The Harp: A Veil Between Two Worlds" will be published March 2008
