I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and
that we should not condone immoral acts. I do not believe the United
States is well served by a policy that says it is OK to be immoral in
any way. As an individual, I would not want [acceptance of gay
behavior] to be our policy, just like I would not want it to be our
policy that if we were to find out that so-and-so was sleeping with
somebody else's wife, that we would just look the other way, which we
do not. We prosecute that kind of immoral behavior.
  - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine General Peter Pace proclaimed on Monday  I don't want this close-minded bigoted homophobe in charge of "fighting for my freedoms". This guy and the fact that he commands such a lofty place in our country's chain of defense make me sick and embarrassed as an American.  Those who read this now with disgust for me and pride in General Pace's comments will have the venom of future generations spit upon their graves, when your grandchildren and great-grandchildren see what self-righteous bigots their ancestors were. You won't feel the shame because you'll be dead, unfortunately.  After all, it's only been fifty years since we hosed down black people for wanting to sit at diner counters with white folks. Your Bible supported that too.

"Your Bible supported that too."

No, it didn't.  Just because you have a problem with a subset of Christians doesn't mean you have to slur anyone who reads the Bible and thinks it's worth following.  Many key figures and background figures in the civil rights movement were Christians and followed that same Bible.  That same Bible is what led many people to realize that what was happening was wrong and needed to be changed.

The Bible doesn't condone things you despise just because you want it to or say it does.  If you feel the need to hang on to your bias against Christians, find another way to justify it -- without calling us all racist and basing your allegations on false assumptions.
