The National Cherry Blossom Festival is underway in Washington DC, but Washington Park Service officials warn this year that elderly trees could die if visitors don't take care of them. Some of the older trees are over 125 years old, and have survived drought, flood, the beaver scare, scale infestation and worst of all visitors snapping off branches. The grounds have almost 4000 trees most of them -- now-- replacements.

"But there's nothing that threatens or even comes close to threatening the trees like people."

It was a beautiful day to see the cherry blossoms yesterday! Most of them are white this year, but there are a few pink ones. There was a group of birds battling the wind when I took this shot. I was really happy with the way it came out, and that I was able to incorporate the blossoms in as well.
