All lanes have now been reopened after a huge accident that snarled traffic for hours on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.  The crash occurred when a trailer that was being towed by an SUV derailed. 3 people were killed and 5 were injured. The bridge is the main structure that connects Maryland's eastern Shore with the rest of the state.
Traffic was snarled behind the wreckage, with drivers unable to turn around and get off the bridge for hours. It wasn't until midnight that all lanes were reopened.

A large part of my job over the last 20 years has been driving on every type of road surface during all types of weather, but I can tell you that a drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge almost always unnerves me!
