It was a tough day at the Chicago marathon for the champion as the poor guy was hurt crossing the line. Hopefully he pulls through and will be released from the hospital soon. But there is lots of interesting side notes during the big event this weekend. This is always a huge event for the running world as the windy city plays host to little shorts, all sorts of great costumes, (always a good place for a Halloween trial run), and lots of those little Gatorade cups...

"He lost his footing just before breaking the tape and hit his head."

Cheruiyot, winner of this year's Boston Marathon, beat Njenga, a veteran of the Chicago course who took second place in 2002 and 2004 and third in 2003 and 2005. Fellow Kenyan Jimmy Muindi finished third in 2h 07m 51s. Defending champion Felix Limo of Kenya pulled out last week because of lower back pain.
