LONDON (AFP) - Between 22,000 and 25,000 protesters have converged on central London as part of global protests calling for urgent action from world leaders to tackle climate change.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman told AFP that the crowds swelled from about 10,000 at 2:00 pm (1400 GMT) to about 22,500 just under two hours later in Trafalgar Square for the culmination of a day of demonstrations.
