Climate change solutions available now: Sargent

Green Party Leader Trevor Sargent TD said today that solutions to climate change exist and that Ireland must start implementing them immediately.

Speaking at a photocall in Dublin city center as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) prepares to publish its third report on mitigating the effects of rising carbon emissions, Deputy Sargent said: "If we are serious about reducing our greenhouse gas emission then there is no shortage of opportunities to do so. We have the solutions, all that is lacking, as Al Gore has pointed out, is the political will. Climate change is the biggest issue now facing mankind, yet our responses to date at a national level have been completely inadequate.

Global Warming or Global Panic? Scientists couldn't predict correctly if last year would be a severe or minimal Hurricane season, they got it wrong. If modeling can't predict something as vague as "severe to minimal" only months to a year in advance, why would the world believe they can estimate accurately... the entire planets weather trends for a hundred years?

I'm not Fermi(but I did stay in a Holiday in Express last night), and with a little guesstimating I figure terrorist are killing at least 200 people a month. How many people are dying each month from global warming? So what's the biggest issue?

If I'm even close... and if it doesn't get any worse, then that works
out to at least 200 X 12 X 100 = 240,000 deaths in 100 years, the new 100 year
war. With "Global Warming" and "ice age" and "Oil depletion" being estimated in 100 year cycles, I thought we ought to keep talking apples - rather than switching to oranges.
