A Miami man was almost killed by his coffee this morning, but a strangler fig tree saved him.

IHOP Coffee cup in hand, Jose Puerto was driving to work at 6:45 a.m. in the 3600 block of Southwest 75th Avenue when he spilled the hot drink onto his pants. When he looked down to survey the spillage, he veered off the road, heading directly toward a canal guardrail.
