College: Wikipedia not source for papers
I am a huge fan of Wikipedia. The site has transformed the way we think about human knowledge and crowd powered expertise. But I can also see the point of this policy:
The policy says, in part, "Wikipedia is not an acceptable citation, even though it may lead one to a citable source."
History professor Neil Waters says Wikipedia is an ideal place to start research but an unacceptable way to end it.
The internet is a great place to find information that is probably true (which is often good enough) but if you're citing something as an official record you probably want to verify it with a second opinion.
