Come and Walk 1 City Block

Come and participate in the 1 City Block walk.

1 City Block is part of IN[ ]EX, a distributed audio sculpture in which thousands of wooden blocks with embedded technology are released into the city in order to create a sound environment in the space of a shipping container.

1 City Block is a psychogeographical investigation of the single city block where the Vancouver International Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, Centre A, is located in downtown Vancouver. Participants will be given wooden blocks and asked to distribute them in this localized public urban space.

The IN[ ]EX mobile unit will be on hand to take field readings of the activity that is generated by the release of the blocks. This data will shape the audio soundscape that is on exhibit at the site of the shipping container at Great Northern Way.

IN[ ]EX is on exhibit at Centre A from June 16-July 1st, 2006 and at the Earth: World Urban Festival (Great Northern Way) from June 21-25, 2006.

To participate in 1 City Block, meet at Centre A at 2pm on Saturday, June 17th (Please note new date). The event will last approximately 1 hour.
