I think it depends. I would rather be stuck with a bunch of 'old biddies' who may have fun and have a warped sense of humour than be stuck with people my age who have become 'all serious and dreary' and rabbit on about DIY.
I remember I gatecrashed a 18th Birthday Party because the wedding I was invited to was extremely boring. We had a really good time and I will never forget the skinheads at the pub table waving us off cheerily! (That's after my umm friend danced on the table).
If you take yourself too seriously then you won't get on with the young'uns. Lately I was invited by a young'un to a 'teenage nightclub'.. in fact this happened twice! (We all liked the same music).
