This is a story about me and about others who have and are in similar situations. A couple years ago I lost my home. I lived in a bigger city and had a my own home and a full time job. Than my luck turned bad. I began to suffer from arthritis. About the same time the corporate grocery store I worked for decided to raise their expectations of their employees, forcing them to increase their speed. I couldn't do it and my hours were cut. It was only a matter of time before the worse of my fears came true. After five years of doing my best for this corporation I was on the downhill slide.
Than things got worse. I owned my trailer but I still paid lot rent. The trailor court manager didn't want to fix the place up. In other words, when tree roots begin to fill the sewers and my trailor was flooded and unlivable. How do I know it was tree roots? The gas company came through to install new lines and accidently broke open a pipe near a friend of mine. She showed me how big the tree root was. Completely filling the pipe. I had no money to fix and clean my trailor, I could not pay off my payments and I had no one to help me.

So I had to quit my job, relocate and live with a friend and declare bankruptcy. I still can not find a job anywhere. People want to hire younger or at least faster employees. At my age I have to go back to school and it is a struggle but I have no recourse, and I fear homelessness. During this period of time I found that many people had also found themselves in situations that caused them to end up homeless. More than I had ever seen before. They were livings in their vehicels with their wifes and children and even their pets. Another thing I noticed is that I was turned down many times because I could not use a computer.

One thing you certainly can do is to write about what's happening in your neighborhood, in Kansas, among your friends and family members. We'd be pleased to receive your stories - and learn more about the issues you face.

Hi

Sun Earth Garden,

I know someone homeless who lives in a subway in Central London.

He is very Intelligent and quite capable of holding a good computer job after
the training, but with no address, money, smart cloths for an interview, or the
confidence to try.

He needs lots of help, both financially and emotionally. He has  scares that
brought him to where he is now, which have not faded with time.

His problems and predicament hold him back from attaining his full
potential.

I believe in supporting the needy and in an ideal world there would be
computer training and accommodation, food and living allowance whilst you
trained..

For as long as I can remember there has always been a shortage of housing,
unemployment and starvation.

Those of us that have all these things, sometimes forget just how lucky we
are.
