After 12 days of deliberation the jury has finally reached a verdict in the Conrad Black trial.

Conrad Black has been found guilty on 4 charges and not guilty on 9 charges

Lord Black was charged with 13 counts of fraud, racketeering, obstruction of justice and tax evasion.

He was named in nine fraud charges — six related to the non-competition agreements and three concerned Lord Black's alleged use of company funds to cover personal expenses.

According to CBC TV it is likely that Black  could be sent to prison for up to 30 years, but will likely only serve 3 to 9 years. And becuase the sentence is less than 10 years he  can serve his time in a minimum security prison.  CBC reports that Black was found guilty on 3 counts of mail fraud and 1 count of obstruction of justice.

This an important decision. Mail fraud IS a crime and Black should pay the price for his actions. There should also be no excuse in either the US or Canada for such behavior. NP has again been there to get out the breaking story.

There will be joy among the newsrooms of Canada; Lord Black of Crossharbour was generous in his contempt for the ink-stained wretches and they will respond with glee to his misfortune. Obfuscate.

I'm sure there was crime and mismanagement happening....Happens in all kinds of companies and corporations. The Canadian and Even so the United States Government and many around the world are not good examples to follow and should be placed on trial.

I only followed bits of the trial, the fact that the defence made a deal with  David Radler, and he will spend very little in a Canadian Jail makes it hard to believe anything the prosecutors had to say.

I think somewhere along the way, Lord Black pissed of Governments, especially the United States and thus charges came to light.

Great post Ryan, Congrads on posting the Breaking story!

"Schadenfreude" is the word, I think. Black did himself no favors by constantly belittling those of a lower "class" than himself. Still, though, his prison sentence will be served in far cushier conditions by those in lower economic strata who get busted for less serious offenses.

I would agree Jordon, and Black will get out much faster then those serving time for less serious crimes....

This is Good stuff Ryan, and I was going to post it as good stuff, any ideas how I do that?
