Mr Peter Obi, Governor Anambra State

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Abuja - The Supreme Court has ordered Andy Uba of PDP to vacate office immediately and Peter Obi of APGA to resume office as the governor of Anambra State, South – East Nigeria, this took place about 15 minutes ago.

The court states that the tenure of Peter Obi stated right from the day he took oath of office as the governor of Anambra State, that his tenure has not yet ended and as such they shouldn’t have been an election in Anambra State on May, 2007.

Peter Obi came into office as the rightful winner of the 2003 gubernatorial elections in Anambra State almost three years after the elections.

Prior to his assumption of office, Chris Ingege was the governor of the State; he was fraudulently declared as that winner of the 2003 general elections in the state and was subsequently sworn in.

good stuff:

Eddy, splendid! The implication of all of this is that Nigeria,s recently sworn=in President may not be president afterall. This precedent has far-reaching impact on the Nigerian political scene. By it also people like Ladoja; Dariye et al who were not allowed to serve out their full terms as governors may be reinstated even Alamieyesiegha of Bayelsa state.

Peter Ob will now complete his
tenure as the governor of Anambra State while Mr. Andy Uba, ex-President Obasanjo's favorite labrador and ladies man as well as erstwhile
household assistant will vacate power
immediately since Peter Obi is entitled to stay in office till May
17, 2010.

Supreme Court judgement was read by Justice Katsina Alau in a unanimous decision where all the seven member agreed without dissent.

Wild jubilation across Nigeria, as the most controversial governor, Andy Uba is unseated. Ibo kwenu, Ibo zua nu, Ibo kwezua nu!!!

Background:

Gov. Peter Obi (born July 19, 1961) was governor of Anambra State in Nigeria
from March 17, 2006 to November 3, 2006 and again from February 9, 2007
to May 29, 2007.  He is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance
(APGA) party.

He
replaced Former Gov. Chris Ngige, whose 2003 election victory was
overturned by the Nigerian Federal Court of Appeal on March 15, 2006.

On
November 2, 2006, Gov. Obi was impeached by 16 members of the state
house of assembly under the instigation and prompting of Chris Uba, Andy Uba's younger brother and deposed rogue governor and after only 7 months in office. He was replaced the next
day by Dame Virginia Etiaba, his deputy, making her the first ever
female Governor in Nigeria's history.

Peter Obi was re-instated as the Governor of Anambra State again on February 9, 2007 by the Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu.  Mrs. Virgy Etiaba honourably handed the reins of power back to Mr Obi immediately after the court ruling.

To my friend and brother, I say congratulations and worthy. worthy you for a fight well fought! As we bring out the crystal glasses, my toast is: one big one down, eleven to go!

Lightning quick, mate!  What happens if Uba refuses to abdicate?

You should see the grin on my face J, cos that's all the gift we need to go down there and kick his silly back side half way to the moon. His god-father is gone now and you better believe he's taken off as far as his feet can carry him already... that's the piece of junk that wanted me dead!

Democracy is gradually holding sway in Nigeria. Even the president - Umaru Musa Yar'adua applauded the court's jugement.

God Bless Nigeria!

Thanks so very much my brother - Ego for providing the background of the story.
