Craig reversal angers GOP colleagues
What is it about the "Family Values" Party that compel them to cannibalize their own members when they need support? It "begs the question" of real guilt on Craig's part, at this early stage. This is purely political due to his (Craig) 2008 re-election run. If Senator Craig had a D after his name, this story would hardly last for more that a couple news cycles.
A senior GOP Senate strategist said Republican leaders want him gone now and will press for him to keep his promise to resign. The strategist warned Craig is "losing any goodwill built up among his colleagues," adding, "He is simply a fish out of water, floundering right now to get his last gasp of political air.""It simply defies reality," said a Senate GOP aide. "You can't make this up even if you are heavily medicated. The American people heard from Larry Craig that he would resign, and using the word 'intent' as a back door doesn't work with them."
Washington attorney Stanley Brand said Tuesday that the Senate Ethics
Committee would receive a letter arguing that it should drop any plans
to pursue an investigation into Craig's arrest in a men's room at the
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
"I don't think the Senate ought to be policing misdemeanor offenses
that don't have anything to do with their office," Brand said. "They
would be very busy." [more]......................

Yikes, I can't believe he's actually going to try to stick around. You sort of have to admire him in a way...

I'm not convinced one way or the other as to his innocence, yet I think he deserves "due process". I really don't
respect the majority of those in the Beltway. I wish there was a process to enact term-limits. I'm feed-up with all
the corruption!

merrie, good stuff! This whole saga would be turned down as a script for a daytime soap opera, I'm convinced. And I think that if he were a (D) the overall media wouldn't be as interested, frankly. And I think the (R) side has become too over-reactive and hence they are, as you said, eating their own.

If by "family values' party you man the Republicans, I don't understand why you think they should support a convicted criminal, who was elected on teh basis of his integrity. BTW, what does that make the Democrats, "the -anti-family party"?

This isn't the first time Politicians caught in similar sex or other scandals, like Craig caught with his hand under someone elses bathroom stall, trolling for "A Square" turn out to be the biggest hypocrites, much like Evangelists like Swaggert, Benny Hinn and other so called Family Value Traditionlists.

Of course no one in the media brings up the criminal charge of "Grand Theft Fudgery" against him. Can he still be a politican with a criminal record? God, I am so stupid, of course he can as I think that is a prerequisite to get into office.
