LEXINGTON, Ky. - Investigators in the Comair jet crash that killed 49 people are looking into whether changes made to a taxiway during a repaving project a week ago confused the pilot and caused him to turn onto the wrong runway. The airport is currently renovating the 8/26 runway that Comair 5191 mistakenly used.

It is being realigned and will become runway 9/27 and is having 500 feet added to it. Still, this only brings it to a length of 4000 feet, which is still too short for commercial jets.
