Arrests in officer murder attempt

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stolen car hit and seriously injured a police officer.

The blue Vauxhall Corsa hit the officer and a police car when a stinger device was deployed following a chase near Cockermouth, Cumbria.

The policeman was taken to hospital following the incident early on Friday.

A 17-year-old and a 14-year-old, both from the Carlisle area, were arrested at the scene.
