Update: Subpoena can be viewed via Phoenix News Times HERE

(its called Unprecedented grand jury subpoenas)

On Thursday (10.18.2007) Via the web and press came out the story by local Newspaper “The Phoenix News Times called Breathtaking Abuse of the constitution”.
By that Evening Phoenix New Times founder Michael Lacey and Article writer Jim Larkin were arrested and heading to jail (via Sheriff deputies) because of publishing a Grand Jury Subpoena in the paper!

On Friday (10.19.2007) the fall out was taking a turn for the worst, though not for the newspaper, editor and writer. It turned very ugly for the special Prosecutor Dennis Wilenchik by dismissing him for “grossly mishandled the case” and Dismissing the case as a whole against the Phoenix news Times!

Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas announced that no charges would be pursued against the editors and writers involved in the case.... http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/1019new-times1019-ON-CR.html

What and where it all started Via the Phoenix News Times:

The Phoenix Newstimes publishing an Article and cover story of a grand Jury Subpoenas Regarding current and past stories by the paper on Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa county, requesting information of any and all printed, web and any & all who read the articles via the web. (If any one reading this article right now for instance - would have been in that subpoena requested by the County Attorney and Sheriff Joe Arpaio.)

I highly recommend any and all involved in media to read the Grand Jury Subpoena, Talk about the excess of the law regarding freedom of press, unbelievable the depth of this document and how far the search would have taken if it had held, even in part.

** In a breathtaking abuse of the United States Constitution, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, and their increasingly unhinged cat's paw, special prosecutor Dennis Wilenchik, used the grand jury to subpoena "all documents related to articles and other content published by Phoenix New Times newspaper in print and on the Phoenix New Times website, regarding Sheriff Joe Arpaio from January 1, 2004 to the present." Moonwolf - Thank you for letting me know that the subpoena link was gone. You have to go to the original Phoenix New times Article to get the link!

To get a "MUCH BETTER UNDERSTANDING" of this individual (Sheriff Joe Arpaio) everyone should read the comment in the columnists of E. J. Montini and Laurie Roberts blogs and columns. (links are above)
