'The General' gets ten years
THE leader of a gang whose members killed Damilola Taylor was jailed for at least ten years yesterday.Marlon Grandison, the “commander-in-chief” of the feared Peckham Boys, was shopped by his OWN community.
The 25-year-old general was caught with a massive arsenal after local leaders, fed up with his destructive influence among youths, alerted a special police unit.
They told cops that Grandison was stashing guns and drugs in parked cars to avoid them being found in his home in Peckham, South London.
In his Fiat Punto officers found items including a Mac 10 “spray and pray” machine pistol, three pistols, over 400 bullets, two silencers and £5,000-worth of cocaine. Street posses Grandison headed were linked to dozens of crimes.
Brothers Ricky and Danny Preddie, caged last year for the 2000 manslaughter of Damilola Taylor, belonged to a junior offshoot called the Younger Peckham Boys.
Grandison was convicted of eight charges relating to guns, ammunition and drugs at Inner London Crown Court.
Judge Lindsay Burn passed an indefinite sentence, ordering he serve a minimum of ten years.
