London (ANTARA News) - The British teacher freed by Sudan after being
convicted for calling a teddy bear Mohammed arrived back in Britain
Tuesday.
Gillian Gibbons, from Liverpool, touched down at London's Heathrow
airport after a flight via Dubai. She was expected to travel on to
Liverpool, in north-west England, DPA reported.
Gibbons spent eight days in custody in Khartoum after being sentenced
to 15 days in jail for "insulting religion" after allowing her class of
primary school children to name a teddy bear Mohammed.
She was pardoned Monday by Sudanese President Omar Beshir, and her release has been roundly welcomed in Britain. (*) END
