As Meredith Emerson's parents looked on, Gary Michael Hilton pleaded guilty to a charge of murder Thursday in Dawson County Superior Court.
Hilton pleaded guilty to murdering Emerson, 24, who disappeared while hiking on New Year's Day in north Georgia. His plea was in exchange for a life sentence.
