Hit and Run!

On a quite Sunday morning in mid October in Murrintown, Co. Wexford (Ireland,) the peace was shattered as a 1994 Audi left the road at considerable speed and caused a trail of destruction worthy of a wreckers ball.

The accident happened at around 11.30 in the morning and the only witness said
it appeared the car was doing about 100 kph in a 50 kph zone. It appears the driver lost control coming around a bend, ended up on the wrong side of the road, clipped a ditch and went through 2 walls before ending up facing the wrong way wrapped around in a tree.

For a car without airbags the consequences should have been dire, but remarkably, the driver climbed out through the sun roof, dusted himself off, appeared to cradle a bleeding elbow for a time then, limping slightly, proceeded to run away! Seems the car was unregistered and uninsured and the driver did not want not be caught at the scene. Had the accident happened a little later in the day there would have been tragedy as many people walk along this road after morning church.

The local gardaí (police) haven't found him yet but, judging by the the tools in the boot, he was an electrician. Apparently it is unlikely he will be found but the case has been left open. By way of retribution perhaps, most of his tools disappeared over the next few days.

So if you happen to see a tool-less electrician with a slight limp and his arm in a sling the Murrintown gardaí would be interested in hearing from you.
