David Lam, a 55-year-old Vietnamese-born American, was captured last Saturday on the Indonesian resort island of Batam and deported Tuesday afternoon to Los Angeles, accompanied by agents from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Interpol, and Indonesian police officers, Inspector-General Sisno Adiwinoto, the national police spokesman, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
"The Indonesian police received a red alert from Interpol about this fugitive, then on the 17th of November, he was arrested," he said.
Adiwinoto said he did not have details on how Lam had entered Indonesia or how long he had been in the country.
