Syaiful Anam, also known as Brekele, 26, is on trial for rigging and detonating a bomb that tore through a Christian marketplace in Tentena, a town in the religiously divided district of Poso.

Prosecutor Bayu Adinugroho Arianto said Anam's act had "caused widespread fear in the people of Tentena, mass casualties, and damage to public facilities and buildings."

He said Anam had carried and planted one bomb, while an accomplice, Ardin Djanatu, who is being tried separately, planted another. Anam set timers for the two blasts to detonate 15 minutes apart, the court heard.
