Makassar bomber escapes from prison

Hadi who had served his sentence for only three years decided to escape to meet a request by a fellow inmate, Marcus Vally Huwae alias Ade (20) from Batu Gitung, Ambon, Maluku, who is serving a jail term of 15 years for murder.

"The prinson wardens realized that two prisoners have fled after the visiting hours at 3 p.m. local time," an officer at the penitentiary, Lulu Kuncoro, said, adding that a number of officers were deployed to Pangkep district where the inmates had escaped.

The rope and sandals which were used to scale the five-meter wall were kept as evidence, Lulu said.

According to Lulu, two children who lived near the prison saw Hadi and Marcus jumped from the wall but they did not know they were inmates trying to escape.
